Shannon: Hardin will be out for awhile

The Hurricanes held their first of two practices already today and you can read on to see what coach Randy Shannon was saying afterwards.

On today:
It was good today. Guys came out with enthusiasm and they knew what they had to get done.

On Josh Holmes:
Josh is doing very, very well. He's been active, been playing, and is solid. He's doing a lot of good things in practice so far. It's early, though. You'll tell more when the scrimmages come.

On Kendal Thompkins:
It's a learning process for him. It's his first two-a-days. He started out up and down but he responded today.

On Leonard Hankerson:
Hank's fine. He's been practicing well. He's been making big catches in practice. He's the veteran of the group and guys look up to him. To have a guy like that who works out and has been through the ups and downs in life, guys look up to him.

On the senior leaders:
They've been here for three years. They understand what we need to get done. You lean on those guys to get things right in the locker room and they do a good job.

On Gavin Hardin:
No (he didn't practice today). He'll be out for awhile. We sat some guys out to give them a break.
