Moss Talks Recruiting

At 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely record-setting tailback Tyrone Moss made a commitment to the University of Miami last month but that didn't stop other schools from recruiting him.

"Man, it never stopped," Moss said. "They just kept going like I didn't even commit. But I did and I'm committed to Miami still."

The standout running back took a visit earlier this month to Ole Miss and was scheduled to take another one this weekend.

"Ole Miss was nice and everything," he said, "but it's just not for me. They have a good program and a good situation for some running back out there but it's just not going to be me."

Moss was scheduled to visit Ohio State this coming weekend.

"I was planning on going up there," he said. "But then the Miami coaches heard about it and they started getting all shaken up about it. I don't understand why though, it's just a visit. They know I'm coming to UM. I just wanted to go up there and enjoy the weekend."

Moss said he will be meeting with a UM coach later this week.

"Coach Hargreaves is coming by here tomorrow to talk to me," he said. "We'll just talk about what's going on."

So will he end up taking the visit.

"Probably not," he said. "I don't want to get [Miami coaches] upset or anything. I'm totally committed to being a Hurricane and on February 5, I'm signing with Miami."

Moss said he's already looking ahead to next season.

"With McGahee gone now, they really only have a couple of tailbacks on the roster," he said. "Frank Gore is coming off an injury and Jarrett Payton's back too. Quadtrine Hill might try to play some tailback but I know my competition. I'm going to work hard enough this offseason so I can go in there and give Frank everything I got. He better be ready for the competition because he'll get plenty of it."

Moss also addressed the situation with teammate Cyrim Wimbs.

"Man, he's just taking a trip," he said. "Cyrim's heart's with Miami. I know it and he knows it."
