Coker to Visit Top DL

At 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Central standout defensive end Bryan Pata took his second official visit of the year this past weekend.

The highlight of his visit to Rutgers?

"I got to meet that cat Nate from New Jersey," he said of UM commitment Nate Robinson. "We talked for awhile about UM and stuff like that."

Pata said Robinson didn't look like the way he thought he'd look.

"He was a little shorter than me and wider," he said. "You can tell he's definitely a tackle. He looks real strong with a big body. He was telling me that he's coming to UM to ball and I was like 'for real man, lets do it.' We talked about playing early and making an impact. He's like me - we know it's all about hard work, especially at UM."

The talented defensive lineman will make his official visit to UM this weekend.

"I go to UM Friday and the first thing I'm going to do is hit up Earl Everett," he said. "Me and him are tight and I want to hang out with him again. He's a great player."

Pata said he's narrowed his list of choices down to three schools - UM, Florida, and Rutgers.

"Coach Schiano is supposed to be coming by here later this week," he said. "Coach Zook was here tonight. Tomorrow, Coach Coker and Coach Shannon are coming by to meet with me and my mamma."

Pata said he's still favoring the Hurricanes at this point.

"I still like UM the best out of all of them," he said. "I'm going to see what the coaches have to say tomorrow. I can't wait to take my visit because they're supposed to have a lot of guys out there. Hopefully I'll get to meet a bunch of them."

Pata spends each night at the gym getting ready for his college career.

"If there's a spot for someone, I want it," he said. "I've been working out real hard. You have no idea how much I want to play again. That all star game helped but it just made me want to get out there and start playing even more. I can't wait."
