UM Coaches Visit With DL

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Reserve (La.) East St. John standout defensive end Vegas Franklin will be taking his final official visit of the season this weekend.

He's glad.

"This whole thing has been getting pretty crazy," Franklin said. "I never thought it would keep me busy like this and that's why I want to make a decision real soon. I'm taking my last visit to Miami this weekend so hopefully I'll be able to decide after that."

The standout defensive end has met with UM coaches in recent weeks.

"They came by and talked to me about different things," he said. "I was talking to C.J., who recruits this area for them, and he was telling me how they like me and how they're excited about me visiting this weekend."

Franklin said he's looking at three schools for the most part.

"Pretty much, it's out of Florida State, Tennessee, and Miami," he said. "I went on those visits earlier this month. They was tight, I like them. Now I'm ready for Miami."

Franklin talked more about the Hurricanes and what he's looking forward to the most.

"I know they have a great winning tradition, good coaches, and they need guys at my position," he said. "I just want to get a feel for what it's like there. If I really like it there, I might pick Miami. I've been thinking a lot about it lately."

Franklin said he and teammate Kirston Pittman are still talking about going to college together.

"We still talk about it," he said. "He still likes the same ones I do and we both are taking the Miami visit this week. If we like it, we might both end up going there."
