The wide receiver group may take a hit, as Aldarius Johnson is listed as questionable for the game. Johnson, considered by many to be Miami's most complete receiver, had a solid game against Florida State in the opener and it'll open the door for someone like Laron Byrd to step up and play a bigger role outside for the Canes.
A couple backups are listed as doubtful -- backup left tackle Benjamin Jones and reserve running back Damien Berry. Jones has yet to play for the Canes so assuming the first unit stays healthy, it's not a big loss right now. Berry isn't in the rotation at running back but does play a key role on special teams.
Now for some bad news, starting cornerback Demarcus Van Dyke has been ruled out for the game. That means senior Sam Shields, a converted wide receiver, will likely get the start opposite Brandon Harris. Shields played a big role and a lot of minutes against Florida State in the opener.
Defensive end Adewale Ojomo is still out and the timetable for his return is still uncertain at this point. Also out for the game is backup safety JoJo Nicolas, who played a key role in the absence of starter Vaughn Telemaque in the FSU game.
