LB Gives UM High Praise

At 6-feet and 210 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Central standout linebacker Ali Highsmith enjoyed his official visit to Miami over the weekend.

"I just got back from my visit and it was great," Highsmith said. "I knew a lot about UM already but taking the visit just gives you more of an inside look at what's really going on."

So what did Highsmith get out of the visit?

"It just confirmed that UM's a great place for me," he said. "They have great players, great coaches, and it's close to home."

The standout linebacker said he hung out with several players during the weekend.

"All those guys are so close," he said. "Vilma and DJ Williams are leaving after next year and they are going to need some replacements. That's why they're bringing in some guys this year. I saw Nook (Darnell Jenkins) too."

So where does the visit to UM put the Hurricanes on Highsmith's list?

"Well, it's still UM," he said. "I ain't ready to commit anywhere yet. It'll probably be out of them and LSU. I also like Ohio State too and I'm not sure if I'm even going to take a visit next weekend or not."

So who holds the advantage at this point in the recruiting process?

"I like them both a lot," he said. "Both of them have their positives. UM's closer to home though but that really doesn't matter."
