DL Loves UM Visit

At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Reserve (La.) East St. John standout defensive end Vegas Franklin came away very impressed with his visit to UM this weekend.

"Miami was great," Franklin said. "I got to see different parts of the school that I can't really get a feel for when talking to the coaches on the phone or in person. It was all real impressive to me. No wonder the players there are always so successful."

The talented defensive lineman had a chance to hang out with several current players.

"One thing about the players at Miami is how close together they seem," he said. "They all do everything together. It's a tight group. There's a lot of team unity there and that's something I noticed right away."

Franklin said he was also impressed with the UM coaching staff.

"They're all cool," he said. "I knew the coaches that were recruiting me but they all cool. Coach Coker's a funny man. He's a guy I could definitely see myself playing for."

The talented defensive end also had a chance to hang out with some fellow recruits.

"It was fun chillin with those guys from Florida," he said. "Some of them are real funny. It's a good group of guys. That kid Bryan was real intense. He was ready to start playing this weekend."

So how much ground did the Hurricanes make up?

"I really liked Miami," he said, "but I also liked Florida State and Tennessee. I'm not sure what I'm going to do just yet but I know that's definitely a place I could see myself playing at. Miami's got everything it seems."

Franklin said he still plans on playing college football together with teammate Kirston Pittman.

"We had a good time," he said. "We're both high on Miami right now."
