UM Lands DL Commitment

The University of Miami scored big this past weekend, especially with kids from the state of Louisiana. In addition to Craig Davis and Daryl Johnson, the Hurricanes landed defensive end Vegas Franklin.

"Vegas is headed to Miami," said East St. John head coach Larry Dauterive. "He just said that Miami is the best situation for him. He really loved every part of Miami and said he was ready to get things over with."

Franklin, who picked the Hurricanes over LSU, Florida State, and Tennessee, was a big time player for his coach this season. "He was outstanding for us," his coach said. "His motor never stops. I love those kinds of kids. He's a great athlete who knows how to make plays. Miami loved him from the beginning. They think he fits in really well with what they're doing. In my 20 years as head coach, Vegas is as good a player that I've coached. Miami's getting a great kid and a great football player."

Franklin's teammate Kirston Pittman will announce his decision on signing day and the Hurricanes appear to be in the thick of things.
