Spence: Young LB's ready to step up

Read on to see what linebacker Sean Spence is saying about the injury to Jordan Futch, the progress of Arthur Brown and Ramon Buchanan, the UCF game, and much more.

On Jordan Futch's injury:
That's a big loss. He was doing a great job on special teams and on defense as well. Guys need to step up.

On Ramon Buchanan:
He's doing good. He practiced (Tuesday) with us and did a pretty good job of picking up what we need to get done for UCF. Coming from safety (to start his career) into the box, he's done a tremendous job of being physical and things like that.

On Arthur Brown:
I've seen a lot of strides from Arthur -- where to line up, things like that. He's made huge strides.

On the young LB's being ready:
I think they are. They did enough watching, got enough mental reps, that they should be ready to go out and play.

On losing Futch for depth:
Losing depth is never good but we gotta pull together and fight through it.

On playing at UCF:
We understand going in that it'll be a hostile crowd. They're looking to beat us so we gotta go in focused and take them serious.

On UCF doing well late in games:
Coach Shannon gave us a statistic. They've outscored their opponents 30-0 in the fourth quarter this year so we gotta come out and play a complete game.

On UCF's players getting hyped:
A couple of their guys are Miami natives. They grew up rooting for UM and didn't get recruited by here. Going to play them, they're gonna play their hearts out.

On the play of Damien Berry last week:
It was good. I think Damien is a great running back and I was happy to see him out there running.

On A.J. Highsmith:
He was happy about that, getting his feet wet, knowing what it's like in a college football atmosphere.

On Micanor Regis:
He's kinda funny. I always mess with him, just on how big his butt is. He's doing a great job. He's big, fast, and strong.

On UCF's RB going for over 200 last week:
Watching him on film, he's very impressive. He breaks a lot of tackles so we gotta make sure we wrap up.

On the UCF offense:
They're trying to run the ball so we have to try to stop the run and make them one-dimensional.

On last year's close game:
They came out and had a great game plan. They played their hearts out so we gotta match their intensity.

On beating the in-state team:
We wanna win every game like that. UCF ain't gonna lay down so we gotta handle our business.
