5-star DE to visit Miami

Corey Lemonier is a five star defensive end prospect from Dade County. Where does Miami stand? He talked about the Canes, his interest in them, his visit plans coming up, and much more in the update below.

Corey Lemonier is a five star player from Hialeah High and he's already taken his five official visits -- Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, and Illinois.

He's in Orlando this week for the Under Armour All America Game and CanesTime.com caught up with him following today's practice.

"I'm still very wide open right now with recruiting," Lemonier said. "I've taken my official visits and now I plan on taking a few unofficial visits in the next few weeks."

Lemonier, 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, said despite recent reports that Miami has been eliminated the Canes are very much in the picture.

"I'm definitely still considering Miami," he said. "I have a good relationship with Coach McGriff. We stay in touch with each other. I didn't feel like I needed to use an official visit to there because I like 15 minutes up the road. They know where I stand. I plan on taking an unofficial visit down there to meet with the coaches sometime in the next couple weeks."

The standout defensive end prospect said there's a lot to like about the hometown Hurricanes.

"They're a great program and it's close to home," he said. "There are good opportunities there. Look at Olivier Vernon. He went in there and played as a freshman, started, and so I know there are chances for freshmen to come in and play right away."

The five star prospect says he's still considering the five schools he took official visits to as well as Miami.
