UM coach headed to the NFL

Miami running backs coach Tommie Robinson has accepted a position on the coaching staff of the Arizona Cardinals.

Tommie Robinson is leaving his job as the running backs coach at the University of Miami, he confirmed to CanesTime on Friday. Robinson will be taking the same position with the Arizona Cardinals.

Robinson has been in the college ranks since 1991, coaching mostly running backs and wide receivers. He served as an offensive assistant with the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons so he has NFL coaching experience already.

Having coached Ladanian Tomlinson at TCU, Robinson has been at UM for the last three seasons.

Robinson becomes the second assistant coach to leave since the season ended. Former defensive line coach Clint Hurtt is now on Charlie Strong's staff at Louisville.

Robinson's replacement at Miami has not yet been named by coach Randy Shannon.
