Spring Preview: TE's

Spring football starts at the University of Miami on Tuesday so it's time to take a look at the team heading into the month-long session.

Tight end is the thinnest position on Miami's roster heading into the spring. After graduating its top two pass-catchers in Jimmy Graham and Dedrick Epps, the Canes will turn to a couple possible replacements this spring.

Senior Richard Gordon was granted a redshirt season in 2009 and is back for the 2010 season. The former defensive lineman has four career catches at Miami and no touchdowns so he's not expected to light up the scoreboard anytime soon. He is, however, very athletic for his size and is a skilled blocker.

Freshman Billy Sanders didn't play in 2009 and took a redshirt. The former three-star recruit will be looking to make a name for himself for the Canes this spring but he's unproven to this point.

That's it for scholarship tight ends this spring. The Canes signed Juco transfer Chase Ford last month but he was unable to enroll for the spring semester and won't be here until the fall.
