We kept it the same speed. In NCAA rules, only a percentage can be full speed. Guys are sore. I thought we got a lot accomplished this week. Laron Byrd had a great week of practice. Starting Monday, we'll watch the tape from this week. Evaluating last year, when you have success and dwell on it, that hurt us last season. Besides that, we had a lot of good work today – blitz stuff, inside run full contact, those are guys we worked on.
On standouts during inside run drills:
It don't make a difference. It's not pass plays, no blitz. You line up man on man and see who can knock guys off the ball and get off blocks on defense. It was back and forth, not one-way dominated.
On Aldarius Johnson:
I don't really judge. I look at what guys do each week. You cant stay the same. Anytime you look at those receivers, biggest thing is what Laron Byrd does next week. Will he keep going or will he go backwards? Will Aldarius keep the same blocking mentality next week?
On the running backs:
You can't really say nothing. There's no scrimmage work. When we scrimmage next week, we'll know. They're not getting tackled. They're running the right routes, doing protection stuff. We're not done putting things in on defense either.
On what's being installed:
You're just working on your offense and defense. Can those guys execute it? When the football season comes, it's gametime adjustments.
On the kicking situation:
Jake is doing all the kicking now. We don't know in the fall. That's a long ways off for me. Jake kicked some field goals yesterday in practice. Monday we'll start doing some live and see how he's improved with kickoffs.
On Brandon McGee:
Reps will get you better. You make some mistakes and then you get better.
