Epps goes in Round 7

Dedrick Epps became the second Hurricane tight end drafted when San Diego selected him in the 7th round of today's NFL Draft.

Dedrick Epps caught 19 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns as a senior in 2009 for the Hurricanes while sharing the tight ends duties with fellow NFL Draftee Jimmy Graham. Epps finished his career with 49 catches for 634 yards and six scores.

Epps, 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, came to Miami as a four-star recruit out of Virginia and made a big impact for the Canes. San Diego liked him enough to use the 28th pick of the 7th round (235 overall) on him.

Epps, who was the 20th tight end drafted this year, rounded out a Miami draft class that also featured Graham, linebacker Darryl Sharpton, and offensive tackle Jason Fox.
