Senior DE will not return

Senior defensive end Steven Wesley will not be returning to the Hurricanes this fall, CanesTime.com has learned.

Sources confirmed with CanesTime.com that defensive end Steven Wesley will not return to the team this fall to play his senior season.

Wesley was expected to provide depth at defensive end this season but his football career appears to be over. Details on why he won't return are unavailable at this time but we'll have more on it later.

Wesley was a four-star prospect coming out of Bartow High a few years ago and signed with the Canes after also taking official visits to Ole Miss, Alabama, and Ohio State.

After redshiring his first year in 2006, Wesley saw very limited action in 2007, playing in nine games and recording three tackles. He saw a few starts as a sophomore in 2008 and finished the season with 21 tackles. As a junior last season, Wesley made 17 stops, including three sacks.
