Day 3: Asante Cleveland

Asante Cleveland is a freshman tight end who had a strong practice on Saturday. Read on to see everything he was saying afterwards.

On Chase Ford:
He's looking pretty good. He's getting adjusted coming from Junior College and he's doing really good.

On the variety of tight ends:
Chase is from Texas, Rich and Clive are from Florida, Billy's from Arizona, and I'm from California, and Tallman is from Boston so we all have different backgrounds.

On four freshman TE's:
We all bring something different to the table. That's why they brought us here.

On his big play today:
That was a good play. I had to run a deep route and Whip just threw it where it needed to be and I just jumped and hope I caught it. Once I had the ball, I just turned and ran.

On his goals:
I'm gonna work as hard as I can to do whatever they need me to do. If I'm fortunate enough to get in that position, I'll gracefully accept it.

On his speed:
When I first got here I timed at a 4.8. Chase isn't a freshman but he had the best time of the new class but I don't remember off the top of my head.

On the weather:
I like it. The weather is something you definitely have to get used to. It's different than California. This humidity is no joke but I'm handling it well.

On the Cali kids:
We're pretty cool. Me and Kelvin Cain are the only ones from northern California so we mess around with the southern Cali boys.

On his weight:
Today I weighed in at 250.

On playing WR in HS:
I played a lot of tight end but they flexed me out in the slot to get me in 1 on 1 situations.

On UM being a similar offense:
Not so much similar. I haven't been lining up at receiver much but I'm good at getting into my routes and trying to find the hole.

On pads today:
I was really excited about going into pads. I was tired of just being in helmets because you cant use your shoulders or anything. When we got into pads, it felt like home.
