Kris Davis has seen it all in his four years at Warren Central High School (IN), but the 6'2, 265 pound Defensive Tackle has transformed himself into a standout player and is excited for the future in Oxford. He ended his long football journey by committing to Miami head coach Don Treadwell on November 29th and will wear the Red and White next fall.

The 2012 Miami football season didn't get off to the start that most RedHawk fans had hoped for – a 56-10 loss to Ohio State. Despite the final score, Miami's first half showed that they could compete at a high level and will be a formidable contender in MAC Conference play. Just a day into one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year, Miami has added another commitment from the 2011 South Carolina Shrine Bowl Team. This time, kicker Kaleb Patterson gave his verbal commitment to the RedHawks and hopes to add a big boost to Miami's special teams.

Miami's recruiting staff has impressed fans with their ability to recruit across Ohio and the South this fall, but their latest target is one of Michigan's best running backs. Muskegon High's three star standout Juwan Lewis will be visiting Oxford this month and has the RedHawks in his top two.

Being named first team all-state in a region known for breeding smash mouth linebackers would a memorable achievement for any prep football standout. Not too long ago, Miami placed a couple quarterbacks in the NFL (Ben Roethlisberger and Josh Betts). Although that trend stopped of late, the performance of the QB tandem of Zac Dysert and Austin Boucher shows signs that Miami might be returning to that level of producing elite quarterbacks. The belief in Oxford is that Colin Reardon of Poland-Seminary HS (OH) will extend that tradition.

When Rokeem Williams ran a 4.40 second forty yard dash at the Atlanta MVP camp in April, he started hearing from colleges in his area. When he dominated the Dabo Swinney camp last month, he started hearing from schools across the country. Unfortunately for all of those coaches, the speedy wide receiver already had his heart set on the first school to recruit him: Miami University.

It requires a combination of skill and mental strength to rack up 5,000 all purpose yards in your first three seasons of high school football. Jamire Westbrook of Kings H.S. (Cincinnati, OH) has done just that, but a new "instinct" has led him to commit to Miami University for the fall of 2012.

Miami fans have long believed that if they can get a recruit to visit their campus, it will sell itself. Canfield High School (Youngstown, OH) TE/DT Jimmy Rousher is the latest recruit to echo that idea. When the hard-hitting 6'2, 255 lb senior visited in April, he immediately canceled all of his other college visits and camps.

When Shane Montgomery was let go as Miami head football coach, OL John Avenski thought his chances of becoming a RedHawk left town with Montgomery and his old staff. Enter Mike Haywood. The new head coach of the RedHawks helped to convince Anevski that only the coaches changed; the school and everything about it stayed the same.

The Miami RedHawks will be shorthanded in the early going of their rivalry game vs. Ohio University on Friday. RedHawk Insider has learned that several members of the Miami varsity football squad have been suspended for at least the first quarter for breaking curfew earlier this week.
