Miami Lands South Carolina Shrine Bowler

Just a day into one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year, Miami has added another commitment from the 2011 South Carolina Shrine Bowl Team. This time, kicker Kaleb Patterson gave his verbal commitment to the RedHawks and hopes to add a big boost to Miami's special teams.

Miami committments already had a strong presence in the 75th Shrine Bowl of the Carlolinas with 3 players in Bamberg-Ehrhardt DT David Deleon, Timberland LB Daquan Lewis and Ridgeland DE Wesley Scott. All 3 committed to the Redhawks earlier in the year.

After visiting Oxford the past weekend, Miami landed one more Shrine Bowl participant in PK Kaleb Patterson. Patterson told RedHawk Insider that the players "feel like family." Upon seeing the campus and meeting with the coaching staff, he added, "everything is perfect about this place – you're not going to find that anywhere else."

Patterson was selected to the South Carolina All-State team after connecting on 89 of 91 PAT's and hitting a 54-yard field goal during his senior season. His James F. Byrnes High School team also won the state title this year.

While RedHawk fans are certainly excited about Patterson's decision, they are also waiting to hear about the other visitors this weekend. Miami also hosted three star offensive lineman and former NC State commit Terry Davis along with some other highly regarded prospects.
