"Johnnie Harris did commit," said Greg Heiar, Harris's coach at Chipola College. "Coach (Billy) Garrett did a great job recruiting Johnnie at Iowa, and that picked up when he got to New Mexico."

Heiar also provided insight as to why Harris chose New Mexico without taking any other visits: "He really enjoyed himself on the visit. He also feels like they need frontline help. He'll be able to help out on the frontline."

Heiar added, "He's a great kid. He plays within his ability. I think he's going to do really well there."

With Harris out of the picture, Miami will now turn their attention to other forwards they have been recruiting such as Barry Eberhardt, Chris Hines, and Kentucky's Mr. Basketball Steffphon Pettigrew.
