Sunday, June 15, 2008 was the first day of action from the Deveroes Summer Basketball League at Woodward High School in Cincinnati. In action that day from Miami were C Tyler Dierkers, PG Carl Richburg, and walk-on PF Sean Mock.

Diekers and Richburg played for the Brick Street team. Last year, Brick Street was the regular season champion and included Nathan Peavy, Kenny Hayes, Dierkers, Dwight McCombs, Nick Winbush, Isiah Carson, and Doug Penno. Brick Street was defeated 57-52 by McCluskey Chevrolet. McCluskey was made up of primarily players from NCAA Division II Northern Kentucky University. Richburg scored 11 points and 7 assists. Dierkers had 14 points and 10-plus rebounds. The highlight for the crowd was a drive and two handed slam by Dierkers that left him swinging from the rim.

Brick Street was short handed with only six players. It is expected that all three incoming Miami freshman (Vince Legarza, Julian Mavunga, and Kramer Soderberg) will join the team in a week. Also, Brick Street will have former Miami players Danny Horace, Nathan Peavy, and Doug Penno available for many games.

In the second game, Sean Mock played for Stan Litz Law Office. Litz beat Clovernook Healthcare in a game that went to the wire. Mock played only 3 minutes and did not score.
