As a junior last season, Jahmad averaged 17.8 points per game at Cross Creek. Even more impressive were his per game averages for assists (11) and steals (4).
At Miami's Elite Camp, his father said not many people have heard of Jahmad Saleem. "He is a rising senior," said his father. Ahmad said his son did not play AAU last year. He added, "He is flying under the radar. Lots of coaches are getting a chance to see his great athletic ability and everything."
Previously, Ahmad described his son's game: "Jahmad is a speedy point guard, plays hard, never takes a play off, just plays hard." Later his father said, "Most coaches notice his intensity. He plays hard all the time." He likened Saleem to Chris Paul. "I think he plays a little like CP3. Push the ball and dish it out. He shoots a midrange shot. He plays defense like Rajon Rondo of Boston (Celtics)."
Saleem had an official visit scheduled at Savannah State scheduled for October 30th. He expected Savannah to offer him that weekend. Ahmad said, "Savannah State plays a tough schedule with Georgetown, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Bowling Green comes to town December 1, 2008. Also Georgetown comes to Savannah State in 2009."
Saleem had already taken unofficial visits to Miami(OH), Jacksonville, Georgia State, and Savannah State. He has been receiving interest from Buffalo, Georgia State, North Florida, and Coppin State.
