Andre Brown (6'5", 201 lbs) is ready to prove his worth this summer. The Tennessee shooting guard from Clarksville Northwest has schools eyeing him from the Great Lakes states all the way down through the Deep South.

During the 2009-10 campaign at Northwest, while his team struggled with an 8-18 record, Brown still earned 1st Team All-District honors while averaging around 22 points, 4 assists, and 9 rebounds per contest. He is also a two sport athlete who will play football in the fall.

Brown is a strong shooter who also has a nice all around game. He is working on his foot speed and his handles.

He is playing AAU this season with Team Nashville. Although the team (as of last week) has yet to win a tournament, Team Nashville has been successful in winning in pool play.

The Miami RedHawks are following Brown closely this summer. Brown said he will be visiting the Oxford campus in the near future.

Being from the volunteer state, Brown is just now getting familiar with Miami. However, he does know of the superstar power the school continues to produce. He said, "I do not know a lot about Miami, but I do know that Wally Szczerbiak, Ben Roethlisberger, and Ron Harper all came from there."

Andre Brown also said of Miami, "(Miami assistant coach) Jimmy Lallathin is a nice guy. I Googled him. Seems like a nice program."

Brown has four scholarship offers from NCAA Division I schools: Austin Peay, Lipscomb, Belmont, and Murray State. Brown also mentioned Southern Illinois, South Carolina, Morehead State, Tulane, UAB, Tennessee State, Wright State and "really all the schools in the OVC" are also showing interest.

Brown has made unofficial visits to the four schools that have offered him. In addition to Miami, he plans to visit SIU and Tulane shortly.

Brown intends to narrow down his list of schools at the end of this summer.

He is a looking for a school that has "a good education that (he) can benefit from." He also wants a good basketball program where he can "excel." He is not concerned about distance from home.

Academically, Brown has a 3.0 GPA and earned a 21 on his ACT. He is leaning toward majoring in journalism or sports medicine. He is interested in journalism as he would like to be a broadcaster some day. As for sports medicine, the appeal is that as a trainer, he can keep around sports ("I do not want to get too far away from basketball.").

RedHawk Insider will continue to follow Andre Brown in the future.
