Irish Take Early Lead Over Spartans

With a slight breeze and light rain, Michigan State looked to keep Notre Dame's passing attack in check. While Irish quarterback Dayne Crist got off to a fast start, the Irish were only able to muster a first quarter touchdown to take the early lead in the battle for the Megaphone Trophy.

Dayne Crist came out throwing going 11-18- 116-0 and would find wide receiver Michael Floyd with 5:28 in the first quarter to give the Irish the first points of the game.

Hitting five different receivers in the first quarter alone, Crist is setting the pace as Spartans continue to make adjustments. But while the Spartans have yet to record a sack, they are starting to place enough pressure up front to push the Irish to make adjustments.

Spartan linebackers Chris Norman and Eric Gordon have set the pace early in the game defensively for the MSU.

The Spartans have continued to use the running game and are starting to make strides in the passing game setting up a balance attack they hope will set the pace for a Spartan victory.
