Spartans Jump To 8th In Polls

After their seventh consecutive victory of the season, Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans have moved into the Top 10 of college football.

With their 26-6 homecoming victory over Illinois, Michigan State has now been placed in college football's Top 10 for the first time this season.

The Spartans moved into the eighth spot in both the AP and Coaches Top 25 polls on Sunday becoming the top ranked team in the Big Ten ahead of Ohio State who loss to Wisconsin late Saturday night.

Entering this week, Michigan State will have their first true road test, as they will leave the state of Michigan for the first time this season to battle Northwestern. Not since 1966 have the Spartans found themselves with a 7-0 record and talk of a National Championship.

While the early going of the Illinois game was not pretty, the defense stepped up and played inspired football for four quarters.

Official BCS standing will be released on Sunday night.
