Jones Earns Big Ten Defensive POW Honors

Spartans senior linebacker earns conference top honors for his performance against Illinois.

With a season-high of 14 tackles and a pass breakup to go with a quarterback hurry, Michigan State senior linebacker Greg Jones earned Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Illinois.

Jones, a senior from Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller High School, played a huge role in holding the Illini to no touchdowns and only 114 rushing yards.

The last time the Spartans held a Big Ten foe from scoring a touchdown came in October of 2003, against Indiana.

Jones is the Big Ten reigning Defensive Player of the Year and this marks the second time this season he has been honored by the conference.
