Bars Talks Spartans Visit

With a father who played for Notre Dame and a grandfather who played for Michigan State, Blake Bars looks to have interest in heading to the Midwest to play his college football. However, with a brother playing at Penn State, Bars could find himself pulled in a couple of different directions before it is all over.

Saturday found Nashville (TN) Montgomery Bell Academy offensive lineman Blake Bars visiting another campus for a game. This time, Bars was in East Lansing, Michigan watching the Michigan State Spartans battle Big Ten foe Illinois. How did the trip go?

"I had a great time at Michigan State," Bars said by phone. "Michigan State is playing great football right now and the campus is great."

While Bars has already seen interest come from several teams, he knows the Spartans are heading in the right direction under head coach Mark Dantonio.

"I did not get a chance to speak with Coach Dantonio a lot, but he seems like a great person and football coach. I have been talking with Mark Staten a lot and plan on building a stronger relationship with him."

While it is early in the process for prospects in the Class of 2012, Blake has seen firsthand how the recruiting process can work. With the Spartans, Irish and Penn State all showing early interest, he is trying to learn as much about each program and any others that may consider offering him a scholarship.

SpartanDigest.com will continue to follow Blake in the coming months.
