Spartans Move Up In Polls

With a 35-27 victory over Northwestern on Saturday, Michigan State made another move up the national polls and in the BCS standings.

Standing poised to make a serious run for the National Championship game, Mark Dantonio and his Michigan State Spartans made another move up the polls on Sunday.

With a 35-27 victory over Northwestern, Michigan State is now sitting at the No. 5 spot in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches Polls.

This marks the Spartans highest ranking since USA TODAY began administering their poll in the 1991-92 seasons. It is also the highest ranking the Spartans have received in the AP Poll since 1999, when Michigan State defeated No. 3 Michigan to take over the No. 5 ranking.

While the move in both polls is important, the Spartans No. 5 ranking in the BCS is even more impressive. This is the highest ranking ever received by a Spartans team.

Michigan State travels to (18/19) Iowa next Saturday for a Big Ten showdown and chance to continue their magical run.
