From The Outside
The Spartans and Huskies advanced to the second round of the Maui Invitational and look to battle for the first time since they last met in April of 2009. UConn defeated Wichita State 83-79 to advance and play the Spartans as Kemba Walker poured in 31 points. While Walker hit only 50% of his shots from the field, he scored 14 points from the charity stripe.
Much like the Spartans, UConn was out rebounded in their opening round win.
This should be a good game matching up the power of the Big Ten against one of the powers of the Big East.
The Spartans hold a 2-1 advantage over the Huskies, having won the last two meetings. Tom Izzo knows this game will help him build his team and prepare them for this year's run at another Big Ten Championship and NCAA run.
Coach Izzo knows not to take Jim Calhoun's team lightly despite what the Huskies head coach may say about the weakness of his team.
