Spartan Target Super Star In Making

Mark Dantonio has always proven he has an eye for talent, with an early offer to Akron (Ohio) Buchtel wide receiver Corey Smith, the Spartans head coach is going after a super star in the making.

Saturday found Akron (Ohio) Buchtel wide receiver Corey Smith on the field for the final week of the Ohio High School season as he looked to help his team win a state championship. Smith, who picked up an early offer from the Spartans may be opening a few eyes early, however, look for major competition during his recruitment if his play is any indication of the talent he possesses.

Smith stands 6-foot-0, but has great leaping ability to go up against any corner, however, what makes Smith special is his first step and his break away speed. Anytime the ball enters his hands, Corey Smith has the ability to score.

Not only does Smith do things on offense, his ability to go over and be a top cover corner, makes him a double threat and raises his stock as a prospect.

While Smith has the skills to be a defender, his ability on the offensive side of the ball is what makes him special and one of the top targets for the Spartans in the Class of 2012.

Spartan Digest will try and speak with Corey following his teams game.

Here are some photos of Corey in action.
