Looking Back At The Spartan 66 - #9-5

We continue our look back at the Spartan 66 ranked prior to the season. How did players #9-5 stack up?

During the spring and summer, SpartanDigest.com gave you the Top 66 players in the Michigan State program. Now we continue to look back and see how our rankings panned out during the Spartans great season.

#9 – D.J. Young – There were some questions with Young prior to the season. Having watched him during the spring, we felt he was fully capable of getting the job done. He did and now he might even have a future at the next level.

#8 – Joel Foreman – Came into the season with many expecting him to continue his development and provide leadership and solid play. Teamed with Young to give the Spartans a solid left side of the line and much should be expected out of him next season.

#7 – Mark Dell – We expected Dell to have a solid season and he did not disappoint pulling down 49 balls for a team high of 761 yards and 6 touchdowns.

#6 – B.J. Cunningham - The Spartans entered the season with not many expecting big things out of the receivers. We felt there was a chance for the duo of Dell and Cunningham to have a big season. Both did their parts as Cunningham pulled down a team high 50 balls for 611 yards and 9 touchdowns. Will anchor the Spartans receivers next season.

#5 - Chris L. Rucker – The 2009 season saw poor play from the Spartans defensive backfield. Many felt Rucker was the key to a successful season. He did not disappoint ending the season fifth in tackles (61) to go with 2 interceptions. Everyone hopes Rucker can put any off field troubles behind him and show he has the ability to take his game to the next level.
