Spartans A Bargain In 2010

A recent release of most head and assistant coaches salaries show the Spartans were a bargain in 2010.

With their 11-1 record and Co-Big Ten Championship, Mark Dantonio and staff proved to be a bargain in not only the Big Ten, but also College Football.

The Spartans coaching staff earned a base pay of $3,442,200.00 for the 2010 season, while Ohio State paid out base salaries of $5,746,900.00 for the same number of victories.

Wisconsin also proved to be a bargain as the Badgers staff was paid a base salary of $3,312,747.00 for their 11-1 mark.

Rival Michigan paid out base salaries of $4,315,980.00 while Iowa paid out $5,418,870.00 this season.

The highest paid assistant coach in the Big Ten for 2010 was Illinois assistant coach Paul Petrino with a base pay of $475,000.00. Petrino will be paid $242,000.00 more than Pat Narduzzi and Don Treadwell. The lowest published assistant salary in the Big Ten was Minnesota's Derek Lewis at $102,000.00.

Michigan State bowl opponent Alabama will pay out a staggering $8,386,666.00 in base pay to Nick Saban and his staff.
