Breaking Down Big Ten Recruiting #1- #4

Mark Dantonio and his staff have been working hard to place the Spartans at the top of the Big Ten Conference. How have their efforts paid off with just over a month left before National Signing Day? We breakdown Big Ten recruiting.

At the time of this writing Michigan State is ranked 30th in team rankings with Ohio State and Michigan ahead of them.  While these rankings look at several factors, how has Mark Dantonio and his staff done when breaking it down.

Here is our Big Ten recruiting rankings.

1 -  Ohio State –  The Buckeyes are building a solid class headlined with several four and five star ranked players.  The key player for the Buckeyes is quarterback Braxton Miller of Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne High School.  Miller could be called upon as early as next season if the suspension of Terrelle Pryor stands or he leaves for the NFL.

Top Recruit: Braxton Miller – Quarterback

Biggest Question:Tommy Brown – Offensive Line

Remember The Name: Michael Bennett – Defensive Tackle

2   Michigan State – The Spartans have done a great job of finding talent in this class.  The player everyone is talking about is linebacker Lawrence Thomas who has great size and speed.  Thomas could also see a move to defensive end before all is said and done, however, he's a great talent no matter where you line him up.

Top Recruit: Lawrence Thomas - Linebacker

Biggest Question: Connor Cook – Quarterback

Remember The Name: Roger Williamson – Cornerback / Joel Heath – Defensive End

3 – Nebraska – The new kids on the block are having a very solid class for 2011.  Using their ties in Texas from their days in the Big 12, help make this class very good.  The making of a very good group of offensive linemen should be signed come National Signing Day.

Top Recruit: Aaron Green – Running Back

Biggest Question: Aaryn Bouzos – Safety

Remember The Name: Bubba Starling - Quarterback

4 – Michigan – Despite all the rumors and talk around the Michigan program, they have built a nice solid class that fits what Rich Rodriguez wants to do.  All the talk is about running back Dee Hart out of Orlando (Florida) Dr. Phillips High School.  If Rodriguez stays as coach look for Hart to stay solid with his verbal pledge.  If not, look for the talented running back to stay south.

Top Recruit: Dee Hart – Running Back

Biggest Question:  Chris Rock - Offensive Line

Remember The Name: Blake Countess - Defensive Back

We will continue breaking down the Big Ten recruiting race in the next several days.
