MSU Hoops Coaching Update

After weeks of speculation one MSU assistant basketball coach has decided to stay a Spartan for the time being, while another had an interview of Sunday.

Brian Gregory, Tom Izzo's associate head coach was offered the head coaching job at Illinois State, but chose to decline the offer and remain with the Spartans for now.

Gregory stated that it wasn't the fit he was looking for, but will still entertain offers through the summer. Gregory, a Illinois native, has been with the Spartans for 10 years, which included a stint from 1990-96 and from 1999-to the present.

Mike Garland, an MSU assistant since 1996, had an interview with Cleveland State on Sunday in New Orleans.

Garland, who was a backcourt mate of Tom Izzo at Northern Michigan, said earlier last week that he was very interested in the job.
