Madaris Has Spartans High On Early List

Monty Madaris is no stranger to Michigan State, the relationship has now taken on a new perspective as Madaris was given a verbal scholarship offer from the Spartans on Monday. Now, Madaris knows his recruiting is going to heat up.

Do not be surprised about the excitement shown by Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller wide receiver Monty Madaris about his newest scholarship offer. For the past few seasons, he has watched former Moeller great Greg Jones star for the Spartans, and is now hearing about the Big Ten Champions from another former Moeller player Marcus Rush.

"Michigan State is one of my tops right now and they are in my Top Three. I loved their facilities and the coaching staff. I know Marcus Rush up there, so that is great, and I have been thinking about how Moeller guys have done up there."

For Madaris, his offer came from showing Mark Dantonio and his staff he had the goods to go after from a camp performance this summer. At 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Madaris has the build the Spartans like from their receivers to go with the skill set needed to excel.

"Monday morning Coach Barnett came into the school. I have been told I have an offer and that they wanted me to come up for their Junior Day in February."

Joining the Spartans on the offer list are Boston College, Cincinnati, and Bowling Green. However, no matter who else offers, Madaris stresses the Spartans will get plenty of consideration.

"When I make my choice, I am going to put a lot of thought about Michigan State."

For now, Madaris is getting ready for spring.

"Right now I am working out with my team and will start track in a few weeks.
