Spartan Digest Take: Taiwan Jones

With National Signing Day fast approaching, it is time we start looking at each of the Spartans verbal pledges and give our assessment about the good, bad, and future of each. Next, we look at linebacker / safety Taiwan Jones, a very early verbal pledge to the Spartans.

What To Like

Physical size and athletic ability makes Taiwan Jones a solid recruit in the Class of 2011 from Michigan State.  At 6-foot-2, 220-pounds, Jones has the long frame to be a safety or play outside linebacker.  Plays on both sides of the ball, has the attitude to do what is needed of him to help make the Spartans better.

What May Concern You

Because Jones is in between the size of two positions, you have to wonder where he will settle.  Once he gets in the Spartans strength program, fans will learn just what Pat Narduzzi plans to do with Jones.

Bottom Line

Solid instate prospect the Spartans wasted little time in going after and getting into the class.  Because he gave such an early verbal, many have forgotten about him when talking about the Spartans soon to sign class.

Has great physical size and athletic ability and should be a solid player during his Spartans career.
