The bell cow of the Class of 2011 gives the Spartans the number one prospect in Michigan for the second year in a row.
Considered one of the best overall prospects in the country, the All-American will have a lot expected of him when he takes the field early in his career. Talk on Signing Day was of Thomas being used as a middle linebacker with a possibility of him moving up to the edge.
Mark Dantonio Says: "Lawrence Thomas is one of the most highly touted players in the nation. He is very explosive, tough and plays multiple positions. We saw him play in 2010. He plays linebacker, tight end and has played defensive end. Lawrence is a big body, thumper-type linebacker. He is a downhill type guy who we can build a defense around. He is an outstanding player, and most importantly is an outstanding person with a very bright future ahead of him at MSU."
Spartan Digest Says: Back-to-Back top prospects out of the home state sends a message to other prospects East Lansing is where you need to be. However, no matter what position Thomas ends up playing for the Green & White, he should be a dominate force and a major producer. If he is to be in the middle, he should be looked upon to provide instant depth if not pushing for starting reps.
