While most fans may not remember Jack Allen when talking about the Spartans Class of 2011, there is a very good chance they will know him before he leaves campus. Compare the thoughts of Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio and Spartan Digest.

Jack Allen – Center

HT: 6-FOOT-2 / WT: 262-POUNDS

We may not see Allen this season, but he will be there fighting to get on the field and providing depth at the center position. While many overlook the importance of the center position, Mark Dantonio has always looked to have a solid point man.

Mark Dantonio Says: "Jack Allen is an outstanding football player who shows great effort. We saw him play in 2010. He has a great motor and is an extremely explosive player with great lateral movement and power. He is one of the top wrestlers in the nation, and certainly the top wrestler in the state of Illinois. He is a very exciting player to watch. We will look to build an offensive line around him in the future. He is one of the most outstanding centers in the country."

Spartan Digest Says: While you can find offensive linemen ranked pretty high in scouting rankings, centers at time do not get as much love as a tackle. However, as the point of the offensive attack, a solid, smart and physical center can mean the difference in the overall performance in both the running and passing game. Centers touch the ball on every offensive possession and have to do more than make a clean snap. Allen has all the physical skills to play at a high level and should provide depth at the position in the coming years.
