Richardson Has Spartans High

With a growing pipeline between Detroit and East Lansing, could Terry Richardson be the latest to join the Spartans. Spartan Digest caught up with the Cass Tech product to get the latest.

Terry Richardson has watched as others from Cass Technical (Detroit, MI) head off to the campus of Michigan State. Now, with his turn coming up on the recruiting trail, the 5-foot-9, 162-pound defensive back has collected double-digit offers, but is looking hard at Michigan State.

"I do like the Spartans and like the fact they do come to Detroit and get players from the city. Coach Dantonio is a real good guy and my vibe for the Spartans are high."

One reason Richardson is looking hard at the Spartans is the success other players have enjoyed.

"I know I can go up there and have a chance to play. I have a lot of respect for how they work with their players."

Another is the job Spartans defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett is doing building a relationship with the highly sought after defender.

"Coach Barnett is a reason I like Michigan State so much. He gives me good advice and lets me know what they are doing and things I can do to get better."

As for the recruiting process, Richardson says things have been good.

"It has been really crazy, I am happy that is has came, as I have been waiting for this since ninth grade. I expect it to be nice and clean as everything that has come to me has been a blessing."

Will the Spartans earn a commitment from Richardson? It is too early to say, however, they are in the fight.
