Godin Still Feels The Magic

Despite it being late February, Matt Godin still has a magical feeling about Michigan State. We spoke with the defensive lineman about his interest in the Spartans.

Holding an offer from Michigan State is special to Matt Godin, not only are the Spartans coming off a Big Ten Championship, his only game day visit in Spartan Stadium was an instant college football classic.

For Matt Godin, Sunday found him making the rounds at an early football showcase as a spectator. When asked about his interest in Michigan State, the 6-foot-5, 268-pound, Detroit Catholic Central product talked highly.

"I mean I am really interested in them. I'm going to keep visiting them. Niko Palazeti, who plays at MSU is always saying good things and he is going to show me around."

One thing that has caught the eye of Godin is still fresh in his mind. The Spartans are Big Ten Champions.

"For sure, a Big Ten Championship you can not get any better than that. It means a lot to us Midwestern boys."

Another factor for such high interest comes from the coaching staff.

"They are stable as a staff. I know if I did choose to go there, Coach Dantonio would be there because they have done such a great job."

On the field, Matt knows the Spartans are willing to let players earn early playing time.

"The coaches feel I could come to Michigan State and play early. That does interest me some."

Other things being looked at range from education to personal comfort.

"Other than education, it will all come down to how I feel about a school. I do not want to feel uncomfortable where I go. Distance does not really matter."

How does it feel to hold an offer from the Spartans?

"It feels good, it is what you work hard to earn. It is always good to have an offer from a Big Ten Champion."

As for past visits, it may have only been one, however, it is one he will always remember.

"I have only been up there once. It was for the Notre Dame game. It was crazy."

Spartan Digest will continue to follow the recruiting trail taken by Matt in the coming weeks and months.
