Funchess Talks Spartans

One of the top performers in the Best of the Midwest Showcase this past Sunday was Devin Funchess. Spartan Digest spoke with Funchess about his interest in Michigan State.

At 6-foot-5, 215-pounds, Devin Funchess can cause some defensive backs to have nightmares. On Sunday, the Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison High School product looked to test some top talent.

"Today has been a good atmosphere with defensive backs from out of state. There are guys here from Ohio, Illinois, and I even heard Canada."

While he has yet to be offered by Michigan State, Funchess knows there is interest on both sides.

"They like everything about me. I talked with them about getting back up there again. I have already been up for a Junior Day, however, I look forward to getting another chance to go up there and visit."

With three offers in hand, Funchess was very excited about a recent one.

"It was great getting my first offer from Michigan. It feels good, however, I want to get out more and check out other teams to have a chance to see what more programs are like."

Despite getting rave reviews, Devin knows there is work still needed to be done.

"I can improve. Today I was fighting some injury with my thumb. I have been looking for a trainer to get it popped back in there.

Will Michigan State be the next offer? We will continue to check on Devin in the coming months.
