Spartans On Board With Ohio QB

Ohio signal caller adds new Big Ten offer during his Junior Day visit with Michigan State.

For Tyler O'Connor of Lima (Ohio) Central Catholic High School, Sunday will be a day to remember. Not only did he have a great time at Michigan State's Junior Day, he headed home with an offer from the Big Ten Champion Spartans.

"It's great to get an offer like this so early," O'Connor told Spartan Digest. "Coach Dantonio and most of all the coaches came from Cincinnati and I have been talking with Coach (Mike) Tressel a lot the past few weeks."

Despite the early offer, Tyler is not ready to rush to make his college choice.

"Coach Dantonio stressed there was no pressure to give an answer at this time. However, this is a big-time offer. I can not say what school is best at this time, as I just have not had a chance to see them all. I hope to end all of this by June so I have no distractions during my senior year of football."

So how was the visit itself?

"It was great, we were all in the meeting room and then separated into groups with our recruiting coaches. Then one of the assistants came up to me and told me that Coach Dantonio wanted to meet with me in his office. It was then Coach Dantonio said they had decided to offer me."

For now Tyler is hoping to have more chances to learn more about the Michigan State program and the men in charge of running the program.

"As far as facilities, you will find no better than Michigan State. It was amazing and so far I really like the coaches. I want to be around them more, but as a whole, I really like Michigan State."

At 6-foot-3, 208-pounds, Tyler knows there is still work to be done with his game.

"I feel I need to work on my speed. Coaches tell me they feel my strength is my arm strength."

At this time Tyler hold offers from Northwestern, Bowling Green, Toledo, Miami, and Michigan State.
