Perkins Looking To Learn More About MSU

As Spartan Digest reported early on Monday, Michigan State has offered running back / linebacker David Perkins. We spoke with the talented athlete about his Spartan offer.

Over the past couple of weeks, David Perkins of South Bend (IN) Washington High School has seen his stock rise with his performance at a couple of combines. Now, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete, has added Michigan State as an offer.

"I know Michigan State has some great tradition and they have a good offense to play running back in and a defense to be a linebacker."

With the Spartans recruiting David first as a running back, does he see them as a leader?

"No, right now I'm just taking it slow and looking at everything. It is good to have the talent to play on both sides of the ball, as that gives you a choice of what position you will play."

Leading the Spartans efforts is Coach Mark Staten. David felt good about the conversation he had with Coach Staten and Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio.

"Coach Staten is a good guy. I spoke with Coach Dantonio and he said they are very excited about me as a player and look forward to me making a visit."

When could a visit be coming?

"I'm going to try and get up there for a spring practice of their spring game."

While David is in no hurry to make his college decision, knowing he would have a chance to be a running back could give the Spartans a slight advantage over other programs.
