Lady Spartans Fall To Green Bay

After their Big Ten Championship season, many felt Suzy Merchant had a team capable of making a deep run in the tournament. That was not to be the case as the Lady Spartans finished their season with a 65-56 loss to Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Merchant's team did not have enough to stop the Horizon League champions as the Phoenix used Adrian Ritchie's 20 points off the bench, and Julie Wojta's 18 points as they advance to the regional semifinals in Dallas for the first time in school history.

The Spartans were down 12 at the half; however, Merchant's team made a run pulling to within one. Nevertheless, Green Bay pushed back keeping the Spartans at bay.

Leading the way for the Spartans was Kalisha Keane with 20 points. However, not to be overlooked was the seven turnovers committed by Keane on the night.

Brittney Thomas added 10 points giving the Spartans only two players in double figures as compared to Green Bay's four players.

The Spartans finished the season 27-6 winning a Big Ten title in the process.

Things look bright for the Spartans next season as incoming basketball signee Jasmine Hines earned Michigan's Miss Basketball.
