Thomas Knows He Has Time

Projected as one of the top recruits in Ohio for the Class of 2013, Dymonte Thomas has already picked up a few scholarship offers including Michigan State. We spoke with Thomas about his early interest in the Spartans.

At 6-foot-0, 180-pounds, Dymonte Thomas has found early interest from college coaches surprising. How surprised was he when Michigan State became his first offer?

"Michigan State was my first offer and it really surprised me when it happened. I now have offers from West Virginia and Michigan as well."

Has Thomas had a chance to visit the Spartans yet?

No sir, I was going to visit last Friday but was not able to because I had a baseball game."

A three sport athlete (football, wrestling, baseball) Thomas is excited about the early interest.

"It is good to know coaches are learning how good I am and my coach has done a great job of contacting coaches for me. I was not expecting to get any offers until the end of my junior year. But it is nice to be offered early."

One thing Thomas is keeping an eye on is the recruitment of teammate Zach Higgins who has the Spartans high on his list.

"It would be nice to play with Zach at Michigan State if he ends up going there. Michigan State from what I have heard is a nice place to play football, so I will be thinking about it if he goes there."

Despite the offer, Thomas is still looking to start building a relationship with the Spartan coaching staff.

"I have not really talked with Coach Narduzzi much. But I will look to visit Michigan State for their spring game."

As for his game on the field, Thomas feels confident in his ability but knows work is needed.

"I feel my strength is my speed, but I do need to work on getting bigger without losing my speed."

While the Spartans are not that far from home, Thomas is not too concerned about distance.

"I just want to go and play football at the next level, so distance does not matter to me."

Spartan Digest will check back with Dymonte following the Spartans spring game to see if he had a chance to visit.
