Spartans Showing Interest In 2013 QB

Michigan State along with several other programs is showing early interest in Ohio 2013 quarterback Malik Zaire. We spoke with Zaire about his interest in the Spartans.

One player hearing from several programs over the past month is Malik Zaire of Kettering (Ohio) Alter High School. Over the past couple of years, Alter has sent several players to Division One programs and Zaire hopes to be next.

At 6-foot-2, 189-pound Zaire has already attended a couple of combine events posting solid times at the MSR Ohio Combine and also taking home MVP Honors at the National Underclassmen Combine. What are his plans for the summer.

"I plan on attending the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp and Nike Camp this weekend at Ohio State and then looking to attend four or five one day camps." So far Zaire has visited Cincinnati, Wisconsin and Ohio State this spring and is hearing good things from Wisconsin about their interest.

"We have a couple of former players up there and the Wisconsin quarterback coach said he like me and wanted me to come up for camp this summer."

While the Badgers look ready to host the talented Zaire, another Big Ten program is also showing interest.

"Coach Barnett from Michigan State came to my school and left some information on their camps and I plan on going up there this summer."

Right now Zaire is busy working in the weight room and getting ready to have some throwing sessions with former Alter standout and Miami Ohio quarterback Austin Boucher.
