How did DeAndre feel he did on Saturday?
"I think I did pretty well. Offensive tackle wise I didn't perform as well. But once I went to guard, I did pretty well and felt I finished on a good note."
While still learning how to play along the offensive line, Herron proved he will not back down from a good challenge as he looked to go against the best the event had to offer during one-on-one drills against some of the area's top defensive linemen.
"I came here to compete and I want to go against the best. When I see who the best players are, I want to go against them to see where my talent stands. This is still only my second year of playing on the offensive line. So I'm just looking to where I fit in. So when you have a chance to go against a guy like Sheldon Day who has lots of offers and the other big guys who were here and do well, you leave feeling like you accomplished something."
As for what he is hearing from Michigan State?
"Coach Warner stopped in to our school to check on us and when I last spoke with him he stressed to me that I should go to camp this summer. So I plan on going up to Michigan State for camp."
While some guys may be looking to take it easy during the offseason, Herron knows the work he is doing now is going to pay off in the long run.
"Right now I'm working to continue to cut weight, lift and get ready to have a big June and take it from there."
Spartan Digest will be keeping tabs on DeAndre in the coming weeks as the Spartans Senior Camp is only a few weeks away.
