Spartans Showing Interest in Lewis

Ohio wide receiver Roger Lewis has gone from unoffered prospect in February to multi-offered prospect in May. Michigan State stopped by Pickerington Central High School to check out Lewis during the evaluation process and we have the latest.

For Roger Lewis the draw of earning a Big Ten offer is enough to be considering making a camp visit to Michigan State in June. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver from Pickerington (OH) Central High School likes what he's heard so far about the Spartans.

I'm very interested in Michigan State knowing they throw the ball and I saw the ring on Coach Tressel's hand, it was very nice to see.

While his talks with the Spartans have only just began, Lewis knows there is a good chance a camp visit will be needed to turn the coaching staff's head. Will he camp in East Lansing next month?

"I've not made that decision yet. But I might be going on a bus tour or just have my parents take me up there for camp."

Another thing Lewis has noticed is the number of players who come from Central Ohio now playing at Michigan State.

"It's very good to see players from my city and area playing at Michigan State and having success. So that really interests me in Michigan State."

With most of the Mid American Conference schools having already issued verbal offers, what has Lewis learned about the work he's put in the last couple of months?

"It tells me a lot. I now see that hard work really does pays off."

As for his performance at the Nike Combine, Lewis walked away feeling confident in what he showed.

"I felt I did very well going against some of the top defensive backs in the area here. I learned a lot out there and look forward to taking it to the field."
