Murdock One to Watch

Saturday found checking out some younger prospects from the state of Ohio at the MSR Ohio Underclassman Showcase. The event brought out over 120 players in the Class of 2013 and 2014 to compete and learn. One of several players to standout was Zach Murdock of Westerville (Ohio) South High School.

One of the first things you always look for in possible future prospects is the "look test". In the case of Zach Murdock, he passes with flying colors at 6-foot-5, 260-pounds.

Murdock was a late arrival to the day's events as he was taking the ACT early in the day. However, he did not just go home and relax following the test, he wanted to learn and show that he should be considered one of Ohio's top prospects in the Class of 2013.

For a player of his size, Murdock moves extremely well and showed this during his turn in the pro-shuttle. During offensive line drills you can see he still has some learning to do, but his talent was easy to see and in the coming year he'll have college coaches knocking on his door early and often.

During one-on-one drills, Murdock showed well going against a few top level defenders but still needs to continue working on his technique.

Overall, Murdock was very impressive for such a young player and a prospect Spartan fans should remember in the coming year when the Spartans move from the Class of 2012 to the Class of 2013.
