With one of his high school coaches having played for Mark Dantonio while at the University of Cincinnati, James Sanford of Xenia (Ohio) High School knows Michigan State has a lot to offer. We get the latest on the Scout.com 3-star prospect.
Xenia (Ohio) safety prospect James Sanford
may not get a lot of attention in recruiting circles. But Michigan State
was the first of seven colleges to make scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Sanford.
How are things going now for Sanford?
"Things are going pretty good right now. I have seven offers at this time as Michigan State, Ball State, Toledo, Ohio, Cincinnati, Bowling Green and West Virginia have all offered."
Does Sanford plan to camp with the Spartans?
"I plan on going there this weekend for their camp. I'm not sure if I'll make it up there or if I do if I'll workout, but I hope to get up there and talk with the coaches."
One thing is for sure, Sanford has heard plenty of good things about his key recruiter Harlon Barnett who was the position coach for one of his high school coaches.
"Coach Ced (Cedric Tolbert) has said a lot of great things about all the coaches up at Michigan State. I really like all the coaches I've spoken with and look forward to learning more about their program and Michigan State."
As for when he may be looking at making a decision, it looks like it's not anytime soon.
"Right now I'm waiting on some things as I've not heard back from Kentucky or Ohio State yet. They wanted me to come to their camps but I've not been able to do that yet."
