Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #64

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to start looking at 2011 with player #64.

Kevin Muma

SD 2011 Ranking : #64

Position: Kicker (Kickoff Specialist)

Experience: Redshirt Sophomore

Strengths: Strong leg and improving, back-up to Dan Conroy.

Weakness : Can be replaced by Dan Conroy if needed.

The 2010 season was a good one for Kevin Muma as he earned the kickoff chores for the Spartans and his first letter. While he was looking to beat out Dan Conroy for field goal duties, he came up short and Conroy enjoyed a great season.

Overall: Last year Muma found himself ranked higher in our Spartan 66 as he was still in the fight for field goal duties. In fact, we listed the due together not knowing who was going to win the job. After Conway's super season, Muma will return to handling the kickoff chores in 2011.

Why He Made The List:If not for Dan Conroy we would have placed Muma higher in our rankings. Nevertheless, he has to be in the rankings as he did a solid job of handling the Spartans kickoffs last season and he is one injury away from replacing Conroy.
